The official Monday Night Racing rules · last updated 18 September 2026

Anything can happen on a Monday night — and it usually does! Twenty-odd cars, one braking zone and a season's worth of pride on the line. Which is exactly why we have these. Read them once, race hard, and leave the panel-beating to somebody else.

If you remember nothing else

On track

  • Take the first lap easy, especially the first few corners.
  • Drive predictably. The car behind should be able to guess what you will do next.
  • If you cause an incident, wait for the driver you hit. That halves your penalty points. Lap 1 incidents are not halved, and an incident in a yellow-flag sector may not be halved either.
  • Do not rage in chat or on voice. Tell an admin calmly, or log an incident report.

Flags

  • Single yellow A hazard beside or partly on the track. Slow down, do not overtake, and be ready to change direction or stop. If you cause an incident under a single yellow it has to be obvious you slowed — braked earlier, or noticeably backed off in that sector.
  • Double yellow The track is partly or wholly blocked. Abandon the lap: it must be clear you were not trying to set a meaningful time. You do not have to pit — the track may well be clear next time round.
  • Blue flag, practice A faster car is about to come past. Let it through.
  • Blue flag, qualifying Let a faster car past if you are not on a hot lap. If you are on a hot lap you may carry on, but do not impede theirs.
  • Blue flag, race You are about to be lapped. Let them by at the first safe opportunity and do not hold them up for more than a lap. If they are not within a second you may carry on, but remember you are taking downforce off them and making the pass harder. Never race a driver who is lapping you.
  • Leaving the pits Yield to traffic already on track, in every session.

Track limits

  • Keep at least two wheels inside the white lines.
  • No corner cutting and no using the run-off to gain time.
  • Stay on the correct side of the pit entry and exit lines.
  • The in-game penalty system stewards this as well, so it will catch you even when nobody is watching.

Race night

  • Be online by 19:30 so we can get everyone into the right server.
  • Join the split that matches your pace — A, then B, then C.
  • Keep in-game chat switched on so you can see messages from the admins.
  • Stay off in-game chat during qualifying and the race until everyone has finished the session. If something is wrong — high ping, server trouble — tell an admin.
  • Follow the driver's briefing, and anything the admins ask for on the night.

On Discord

  • Set your nickname to FirstName "RacingNick" LastName For example, Eddie "SpandexCobra" Francis. Right-click your name, choose Change Nickname. It only changes on the MNR server. This is how penalties get matched to the right person, so it genuinely matters.
  • Keep background noise down in voice — wheels and pedals carry further than you think.
  • Keep it family-friendly in the shared channels and during briefings. There is a wide range of ages here.

Everyone is welcome

  • All skill levels are welcome. Help the newcomers — you were one once.
  • Hate speech and harassment will get you removed That covers age, caste, disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, immigration status, nationality, race, religion, sex and sexual orientation. It applies in every text channel, on the race servers and in voice.

Something went wrong out there?

Log it in #incident-reports-info on Discord rather than arguing about it on the night. Every report is looked at by a human.
